Stanley Grauman Weinbaum (April 4, 1902 December 14, 1935) was an American science fiction writer. His career in science fiction was short but influential. His first story, "A Martian Odyssey", was published to great (and enduring) acclaim in July 1934, but he would be dead from lung cancer within eighteen months.

THE GALE roared incessantly like all the tormented souls since creations dawn, driving the two sliding and tumbling into the momentary shelter of a ridge of ice. A cloud of glittering ice needles swept by, rainbow-hued in the brilliant night, and the chill of eighty below zero bit through the sponge rubber of their suits.
The girl placed her visor close against the mans helmet and said steadily: This is the end, isnt it, Tim? Because Im glad I came with you, then. Im glad its both of us together.
