**Subject:** Kindle Basic 7th Gen (90C6) – WinterBreak incomplete? "Jailbroken" document appears but no hotfix / no log

Hello,

I'm trying to jailbreak my Kindle Basic 7th Generation (serial prefix **90C6**) running **firmware 5.12.2.2**.

Here is exactly what I did:

* Kindle is registered to my Amazon account.
* I downloaded **WinterBreak v1.7.0** from the official GitHub repository.
* I copied the complete WinterBreak package, including the `.active_content_sandbox` directory.
* I performed the exploit through the Kindle Store as instructed.
* The **"Jailbroken"** document appears in my library.
* After that, an error message briefly appears (I unfortunately didn't note the exact text).
* I never receive the message telling me to install the Hotfix.
* There is **no `winterbreak.log`** on the Kindle.
* There is **no `MNTUS_EXEC`** file.
* There is **no `PRE_GM_DEBUGGING_FEATURES_ENABLED__REMOVE_AT_GMC` ** file.
* I downloaded **Hotfix v2.5.0** from KindleModding.
* `Update_hotfix_universal.bin` is copied to the root of the Kindle.
* The **"Update Your Kindle"** menu entry always stays greyed out.

I have repeated the process several times from scratch with the same result.

Is this a known issue with the Basic 7th Gen (90C6) on firmware 5.12.2.2?

Should I:

* clean up any files before trying again?
* switch to WinterBreak2?
* or is there another diagnostic step I should perform first?

Thank you very much for your help.
