A new collection of Peter Cheyney's short stories, 31 examples of his considerable short story output between 1921 or so until his death in 1951. He is best remembered for his numerous novels, featuring Slim Callahan, a private eye in London; Lemmy Caution, American cop; and the "Dark" series of wartime secret agent tales. In his short stories regular characters include Alonzo MacTavish, Etienne MacGregor, Velvet Johnny, and Abie.
Callahan, Caution, and the others are all represented in this original collection, many of which were disinterred from Australian newspapers and magazines. However, most of them are non-series.
The stories are all mostly rather short, with the 31 stories amounting to around 105,000 words. They can also be found scattered through the "Past Masters" series of more than 250 short story ebooks posted in MobileRead's on-line library.
