William Wallace Denslow (May 5, 1856 March 29, 1915) was an American illustrator and caricaturist remembered for his work in collaboration with author L. Frank Baum, especially his illustrations for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Each man held full copyright to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Having quarreled over royalty shares from the 1902 stage adaptation, in late 1904 each began a competitive Sunday comic strip: Baums Queer Visitors from the Land of Oz, and Denslows Scarecrow and Tin-Man. The contents of this book appeared as two episodes in Denslows strip.
