Lord Syfret a gentleman of independent means, with health, wealth, and position; he alleviates boredom by investigating strange matters. He is an amateur sleuth, occasional occult detective, and habitual nosy parker and busybody he often receives strange impressions that may lead to encounters with interesting people and human villains, but also sometimes unveil true horror.
Lord Syfret was one of the earlier occult detectives, and can be seen as a prototype for Flaxman Low and later occult detectives.
