calibre friday beta releases

Kovid has agreed to publish "beta" versions of calibre on Fridays when there isn't an official release. Today's beta is there, at https://download.calibre-ebook.com/betas/

Notes:
  1. Making the betas isn't completely automatic so he might forget or feel the changes since the last release/beta don't justify the time. For example, changes to news sources are automatically downloaded so don't require a release.
  2. The version number won't change from whatever the previous release has. Other than your memory, there isn't any way to know you are running a beta.
  3. If you are concerned about overwriting your calibre install, the portable version is in the beta folder.
  4. There isn't a change log. See the calibre commits on github to see what is in the beta. Betas are cumulative; they contain all the logged changes since the previous release (visible in the log).
  5. These betas contain changes that will be in the next release. The changes aren't considered risky or they wouldn't be queued for release.
  6. There shouldn't be any problem with reinstalling the previous version. If you are concerned then use the portable version.
  7. If you report problems then it is very important that you tell us you are running the beta.
