PW Jailbreak (and USBnet) without wifi

My PW bought 10 years ago received an unconsented update last month and its touch stopped working.

I downgraded from 5.6.1.1 to 5.3.1 it through USB.
Yes, on the contrary to some reports, this is possible despite the manufacturer trying to refuse the file because the check only happens after the drive is ejected.

After draining out the battery the touch was working again.

Now I am trying to JB it to put some kind of external control/keyboard (thrgough USBnet?) to avoid the dependence on touch (just in case this is a hardware issue and not planned or neglected obsolescence via software).
