Boox how the heck do you bind a phone number?

I was able to bind my email, with no issues.
I enter my cell phone number area code in the first section, and 7 digits in the second and it never sends a verification code.

I've tried it from my Boox Ultra Tab C pro, from the send2boox website, the send2boox desktop app, and the Boox mobile assistant.

It just doesn't work. And it has become clear that Boox support is non-existent. I'm almost sorry I purchased this unsupported brick.
