accessing the server lands me in book-editor

I have been using Calibre for years, and it always worked fine. The last few days I have problems accessing the server. From other hosts it displays the message "Loading, please wait…
You can also use a simple, non-JavaScript version of this site: here" The non-javascript interface seems to work, but sometimes falters.

If from the user interface I try "preferences>sharing over the net> test server" and then it lands me into the "edit book" window in stead of the server window.

I used version 5.25. Of course I updated to the latest version 5.27. One of the databases has more than 31600 titles, would that be an issue?
