Mystery and Crime Hardy, Arthur Sherburne: 13, Rue du bon Diable; 1917, v1, 5 Sep 2021

Arthur Sherburne Hardy was an American engineer, linguist, diplomat, and polymath who studied with the Sorbonne, the École des Beaux-Arts, and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris; he wrote a half a dozen novels, and this 33,000 word novella was his last, published in 1917.

This is a crime story, set in Paris, and is as French as you please. There are many line illustrations, all uncredited, but clearly by two different illustrators. We know the killer right from the start; the question is, will he be caught, and if so, how?
