Well, as an inadvertent treat for B&N US account holders, 30+ titles from across various genres (mostly non-fiction, but a bunch of romance and a few fantasy and mystery/thriller) are currently free, courtesy of publisher RosettaBooks (albeit probably not deliberately, since this very definitely looks like a glitch).
There are non-fiction pieces by or involving the late Kurt Vonnegut (ISFDB, Wikipedia), lawyer Alan Dershowitz (Wikipedia), former Apple CEO John Sculley (Wikipedia), who always seemed like a pretty decent guy from the biographies I've read about the company, some recent-history type stuff involving Martin Luther King and White House pets (not the same book), and novels by Warren Adler (Wikipedia), who was really generous about giving away his novels as rotating weekly freebies a few years ago, which led to my eventually buying some of his newer ones on sale, and of course Terry Goodkind (of evil chicken manifest fame), in case you were wondering about the source of the freebies that have been mentioned in the sf/fantasy megathread recently.
A couple of them are matched at Amazon for the US only, as far as I can tell, but the bulk of them are exclusive to B&N thus far. Hat tip to the posters over at the B&N Nook discussion forums for spotting this.
There are far too many to link individually, and the selection is probably going to fluctuate as B&N catches up with their glitch, so here's publisher linkage to page 1 and page 2 sorted by price, which should show you everything that's left.
The four that are price-matched at Amazon currently are:
Enjoy!
