Speaking of Titles

FYI

I had a very weird thing happen with my recent release at Amazon.

It is my second collection of eclectic flash fiction/prose poetry/stories

The first from a year ago was Prosthetic Amalgams and I almost went with a completely different name (as I think it may have confused things). Almost chose just the name of one of the included stories but in the end went with Prosthetic Amalgams II.

And here's the problem, the Amazon publishing system somehow decided that the new collection was a "Version" of the previously released collection and linked them together.

Now you might not think this is an issue, but it caused all kinds of problems with the separate collections showing up in my Author page and in searching.

Everything showed up under the OLD collection and the Old Cover and you had to choose from a selection/dropdown in order to select the appropriate book.

Nothing I did (with the publishing setup) made any difference. There are provisions to indicate that a particular book is a Version of another book, but nothing to "unlink' them.

I had to contact Amazon support and they somehow 'unlinked' the two collections. After that all was good.

The moral of the story is to be damn careful about how you Title your Amazon self-published books!
