When Princess Ozma mysteriously disappearsand with her all the important magical instruments of Ozfour search parties are sent out, one for each of Ozs four countries. Most of the book covers the efforts of Dorothy and the Wizard to find her. Meanwhile, Cayke the Cookie Cook discovers that her magic dishpan (on which she bakes her famous cookies) has been stolen. Along with the Frogman, she leaves the tiny country of the Yips to find the pan.

Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 May 6, 1919) was an American author chiefly famous for his childrens books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. He wrote 14 novels in the Oz series, plus 41 other novels, as well as many short stories, poems, and plays.
Even while he was alive, Baum was styled as the Royal Historian of Oz to emphasize the concept that Oz is an actual place. The illusion created was that characters such as Dorothy and Princess Ozma related their adventures in Oz to Baum themselves, by means of wireless telegraph.
For over a century, readers of all ages have loved these stories, and many of the Oz characters and situations have become a part of popular culture.
