copy/pasting alters the characters

I read books using an ebook-viewer (calibre 4.9.1). Everything is OK. epub format. when I copy text to another application (Pages, TextEdit), the text is always wrong. problem is with Czech characters.

1) original correct text in ebook-viewer:
V naší západní společnosti zeje mezi oběma těmito přístupy
2) Cmd-C;
3) inserted in TextEdit (Pages, (Cmd-V):
V naÅ¡Ã* západnÃ* společnosti zeje mezi oběma těmito přÃ*stupy

Epub file is <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>. Mac OS is Catalina on MacBook Pro.
