Hi, gang.
I seem to have solved the problem I was having, but am wondering what happened, and why.
I recently downloaded a book to Kindle for PC (the desktop software), copied the book to Calibre, and used Calibre to sideload the book onto my Kindle Paperwhite. This is my usual routine with new e-books.
On the Paperwhite, however, this particular book was unresponsive to word highlighting. No boxes popped up offering dictionary search, nor was there any way to save a highlighted phrase to the clippings file.
The book was in MOBI format, which has never caused problems before. However, I decided to convert the book to AZW3 in Calibre and reload it onto my Paperwhite, just to see what would happen. Whatever was wrong got fixed, and the highlighting functions are back to normal.
Was this just a random, flukey event? Any thoughts as to what was going on behind the scenes?
Thanks.
Brooks
