Kindle Owners Lending Library returns

The last two times I borrowed a book from the Kindle Owners Lending Library, I had to go to the browser and return the previous borrow first. I thought in the past I was able to return and borrow from the same screen. When I borrowed, it would tell me I had to return first, but I could do it from the same screen. Is this just the way it works now? It's a pain. This is using my HD8.
