Agatha Raisin: Hell's Bells by bestselling novelist M. C. Beaton (SYKM, Wikipedia) is a short story in her popular Agatha Raisin series of cozy mysteries starring an English retiree in the countryside, this installment another one of those quaint little small town murders where a suspect tries to prove their innocence, despite having recently threatened to kill the victim, as you do, free courtesy of publisher Hachette's Little, Brown Group acquisition's C & R Crime imprint.

Currently free @ B&N UK, Amazon UK, iTunes UK, & Kobo (available to the UK, and in EU/Oceania, South America, Japan, etc. when I spot-checked, but not to Canada or the US, since there's a different publisher for the series) . Probably also free at Google Play for the eligible countries.

Description
Widowed Mary Bolton, like Miss Jean Brodie, considers herself in her prime. Not satisfied with car boot sales, dances at the bowling club and reading to the elderly, she throws herself into bellringing with gusto - much to the annoyance of her neighbours.

But when the industrious Mary is found swinging from a bell rope, Jessica Brand - who only days before had threatened to strangle Mary with the very same rope - fears she will be accused. There's nothing left to do but call in private detective Agatha Raisin to untangle the web of sex, money, deceit ... and murder.
