Fantasy Stevens, Francis: Serapion (v3), 1920, 18 Feb 2020

Francis Stevens (Gertrude Barrows Bennett, 1884 -1948) was a pioneer of dark fantasy, and this is perhaps her most accomplished and creepy book, a compactly written 50,000 word novel/novelette published as a serial in Argosy magazine in 1920.

The basic text was that of Dr Drib's book originally uploaded in 2007 to the LRF Library, to which I have restored italics, and also a missing word important to the text. The same single word is also missing from the Project Gutenberg Aust text. Instead, what appeared was this paragraph:

"."

It should have been

"Serapion!"

V3 has a new cover, as the artist who painted the original cover art in Argosy is not yet in the PD. I have therefore taken a detail from the painting, not the whole, to make the cover.
