Topical to the Brexit, three four older collections of articles about the recent political and economic situations in the UK and the EU give introductory information and analysis for those unacquainted with the goings-on, free courtesy of the Financial Times newspaper (Wikipedia).
While these were written a couple of years ago and have been free for some time, the first one deals directly with the Brexit, back when it was simply a proposal that was part of an election campaign promise, and did some prediction on how things might turn out, and which may still come to pass. The others may also be of interest for gauging how accurate the FT's prediction skills turned out to be, as well as discussing the underlying issues affecting each country, which continue to this day.
And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.
Enjoy!

- Britain and the EU: In or Out?, compiled in 2013 to provide a backgrounder and analysis of the estimated impacts of the referendum which was merely an election promise at the time @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians)
- If Scotland Goes, compiled in 2014 for the Scottish Independence vote (a further freebie backgrounder on the then-Scottish Government's plans can be found here: Scotland's Future: Your Guide to an Independent Scotland), but perhaps newly topical again as there have been rumblings of Scotland considering splitting off from the UK again due to Brexit @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians)
- If Greece Goes: The impact of a Greek default on Europe and the world economy, starting to fall into the realm of recent history, hopefully @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians)
- How the Euro was Saved, compiled in 2014, and expanded from an investigation into the Eurozone crisis done by the newspaper @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo (available to Canadians) Also exists @ iTunes, but not free in any country that I spot-checked.
ETA: topical to this last, there's an episode of the Financial Times' FT Big Reads podcast which discusses this title with their Brussels Bureau Chief, who edited the compilation. It's the May 16th, 2014 one, and iTunes linkage for the overall podcast is here.
