An Introduction to the Pink Collection by the late bestselling romance author Barbara Cartland (Wikipedia), is a promotional omnibus containing novels #1 & #2 in her Pink Collection series of classic romance reprints, this one containing two standalone f/m historical romances: The Cross of Love and Love in the Highlands, set roughly in Victorian times, as far as I can tell, free courtesy of publisher M-Y Books Distribution for Barbara Cartland Ebooks Ltd., an imprint dedicated to making her backlist available.
We've previously received the 1st book in the omnibus free as part of an All Romance eBooks holiday countdown giveaway several years ago, but it's nice to see it officially offered again with a bonus book, more widely available this time around.
Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians). Doesn't seem to exist at Kobo, but price-drop-check linkage for B&N.
Another Cartland promotional omnibus also containing 4 historical romance novels in a different grouping, has been previously offered free in 2012 and is still available in selected stores: An Introduction to the Eternal Collection @ iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians). Linkage for Amazon, if you want to do the Report A Lower Price thing.
ETA: as it turns out, these are also DRM-free directly from Smashwords, available worldwide: An Introduction to the Pink Collection & An Introduction to the Eternal Collection
And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.
I don't read these things at all, but I imagine for the Gentle Readers who do, it must be a real treat to get up to 6 potentially new-to-you (or replacements for beloved old paperbacks) classic romances from a major author in the genre, and even if you've gotten the older freebies already, there should be at least one new novel in the lot; so bonus points. :sweethear
Enjoy!
Description (actually pretty long and badly formatted, so just the first couple of paragraphs from each book's blurb and the overall sales pitch for the collection)
Welcome to the Pink Collection from Barbara Cartland this is a new collection of pure romance books from the biggest selling Romantic author of all time
Book One of Two - The Cross Of Love
When Rena's father dies she is alone in the world, forced out of the vicarage that has been her home, with nowhere to go and no money. She seeks help at the large wooden cross standing in the nearby grounds of The Grange.
Book Two of Two - Love in the Highlands
When the Balkan Prince Stanislaus demanded an English bride, Queen Victoria decided to send him Lady Lavina, whose family had a slight connection with royalty.
Determined to avoid this fate, Lavina threw herself on the mercy of the Marquis of Elswick, a disagreeable man who had turned his back on the world following betrayal by the woman he had loved. Surprisingly, he agreed to help by pretending to be engaged to Lavina, and, with her father, they left to visit her relatives in Scotland.
If you enjoy Downton Abbey you will love Barbara Cartland.
