Hi all,
Rather than revive the old handwriting on the iPad thread, I thought I'd start a new one. I just bought an iPad Pro 9.7 with an Apple Pencil, and I do think this changes everything. Lately I had been using paper notebooks more and more often, but now I may go back to writing my journal mostly on the iPad.
But of course if you want to discuss writing with third party styluses (styli? I know both work but I don't like either), please go ahead.
I have been reinstalling most of the handwriting apps I tried and discarded over the years in order to test them with the Apple Pencil, and I made an Evernote page with a sample from each (about 25 so far). Here's the link. It's entirely in French, sorry, I will try to add a few comments in English later. If laziness doesn't get the better of me, as it often does.
So far my favorite is Notes Plus, which seems much more stable than it used to be. Noteshelf, which was my favorite for so long, is sadly unusable with the Apple Pencil, my handwriting looks all funny. The rest of the apps are all over the place, some have a good handwriting but bad interface or export options, some are bad all over. Metamoji Note deserves a mention, I liked it mostly, except that I tend to zoom in or out inadvertently quite often, and that they seem oriented toward a subscription model which I'm not too crazy about. GoodNote and UPAD 3 aren't bad either. Much will depend on what you use the app for.
That's not a lot of information, sorry, but if you want a more detailed opinion on one of the apps (in English!) let me know. And of course feel free to give your own opinion.
